Please read the introductory paragraphs from the 'changes' page if you didn't look at it before. The same points apply here too.
Here we have just one example of many within the Doctrine and Covenants. This is from the 'Book of Commandments' which was its original title.
Let us look at what is now the 7th Section of the Doctrine and Covenants. It is just 8 verses long.
Look at the image of the single piece we have here for you. Originally, as Chapter 6 of the Book of Commandments, apart from having thirty-two words added, it was just three verses long (changed to five in the rewrite). To that has also been added seventy-six more words, in three more verses, which I believe changes the sense of the revelation somewhat.
Please note that this is added text, not text moved from somewhere else. There are many similar instances, please take my word for it.
I am extremely concerned about additions and subtractions and alterations which add to a supposed perfect revelation first up.
The original revelation was supposedly given to Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowderey. One wonders if one of the reasons why he withdrew from the LDS church after accusing Joseph Smith of a number of things was because of changes, and out of loyalty to his cousin, he kept silent to outsiders? And yes, Joseph and Oliver were closely related, a point not discussed in LDS circles.
One such demonstration should be sufficient to get the point across. You may care to look at the other changes we have posted on this site.
